Laws takes positives from Palace

Posted on: Wed 30 Sep 2009

Sheffield Wednesday manager, Brian Laws, emerged from Selhurst Park on Tuesday evening content with a point - but insisted the Owls could have emerged with all three.

The Owls posted a creditable draw against the in-form Eagles from a game in which chances were created at either end.

Hosts Crystal Palace enjoyed the high spots of the first half but Wednesday hit back after the break to create good opportunities of their own.

Laws said: "That was a ground-out point and one that I think we deserved. Crystal Palace is not an easy place to come to but we fought hard and got something out of the game.

"Palace had chances early on but I would say ours were better in the second half. The plan was if we can't get three points, make sure we get one against a solid side that had just got two wins under the belt.

"We were fortunate we didn't go one down early on but we recovered very well and talk about a turnaround in the second half. We had all the best chances so I have to say that although we got the one point, there is a bit of disappointment that it wasn't all three.

"But there were a lot of plus points and not least the fact that we have got a clean sheet. Teams are not always going to let us play, sometimes we have to grind out results and that's exactly what we did tonight."
