Alan Irvine has revealed he will more than likely make changes for the Owls' JPT clash with Notts County at Hillsborough on Wednesday. However, the Wednesday manager will be restricted in what he can in terms of those changes.
He said: "I will probably make some changes, but we are restricted in what we can do because of the rules of the competition.
"You have to play six of the team who started in the previous game or six of your main starters from the games played so far this season. We have to adjust what we are thinking to make sure that we don't break these rules.
"I don't think anybody should dictate to a manager who he picks for a game. I think the manager has a hard enough job to make sure that he keeps his job so I think he should be given freedom to live or die by his own decisions."
Irvine is expecting a stiff test from County, who posted an excellent point at Bournemouth on Saturday having gone 3-0 down after 30 minutes.
Craig Short's side are on more of an upward curve after an indifferent start, a point to which Irvine is in full agreement.
He said: "They didn't start so well, the first couple of games they were quite soundly beaten. But they have had some good results since then, including a very good win away at Watford in the Carling Cup so they will be feeling confident.
"I am sure they will come to Hillsborough looking forward to the game and feeling that they can build on recent results.
"They have a good sized squad and a lot of experience within that squad of not only this level but higher levels and it will be a tough game.
"Interestingly, they will probably turn up with a team where Sheffield Wednesday fans will recognise more names than some teams we have played so far."
