Megson set to make changes

Posted on: Fri 27 Jan 2012

Gary Megson has confirmed he will make changes for this weekend's trip to Blackpool.

With games coming thick and fast in the league and players cup-tied in the competition, Megson is set to shuffle the Owls' pack for the fourth round FA Cup clash.

He told Wednesday Player: "We will be making changes because Miguel Llera, who played terrifically at Scunthorpe on Tuesday, is cup-tied so he can't play.

"There are one or two who, fingers crossed, might be fit but we will have to chop and change.

"We're also in a position where we have a hugely important game on Tuesday night against MK Dons and another important game the following Saturday."

One positive point for the Owls in the last seven days has been the form of Jermaine Johnson.

The Jamaican has scored two stunning goals in his last two outings and was unstoppable at Scunthorpe on Tuesday evening.

The Wednesday boss has hailed the impact of JJ since his return to the squad but is looking for more from the Jamaican off the ball.

He explained: "I've told JJ until he starts doing it by himself, he's going to have me shouting in his ear to get back into position.

"It's an important part of JJ's job.

"It's not just a defending thing, if he gets himself into those positions, he invariably picks the ball up with space in front of him and at this level, as we saw on Tuesday, there's nobody better.

"Like us, Blackpool have their priority which is to get back into the Premiership. Since Ian Holloway has gone there, they have done remarkably well and it will be a difficult game."
