The Owls' unbeaten run came to an end when Brian Laws took his men to the seaside. A cold and windy Bloomfield Road awaited Wednesday when they arrived at Blackpool and despite an equalising goal from central defender Richard Wood it was the host side who took the points when Paul Dickov drove home in the thirtieth minute giving the tangerines the lead. An improved second half performance in the second period saw the Owls come close to sharing the spoils but it was too little too late for the boys from Hillsborough.
