Owls scoop national award

Posted on: Tue 15 Nov 2011

The Owls' official matchday programme 'Wednesday' has scooped a national award for 2011-12.

The Midlands Programme Club judged every League 1 programme this season and 'Wednesday' came out top of the pile.

A spokesman for MPC said: " The quality of every club's match day programme for the 2011-12 season was excellent.

"However, Sheffield Wednesday's stood out from the others and received the following comments from the MPC members who reviewed it…

'excellent issue'

'loved the features'

'brilliant value for money'

'great articles and lots to read'

'so different to others'

'great pictures and quality photography'

'in a league of its own unlike all other issues'

The Owls' Director of Communications Trevor Braithwait said: "We are delighted to win this award, which is gratefully received.

"The club made a conscious effort over the summer to overhaul the programme in terms of its content and design, together with reducing advertising pages to offer greater value for money.

"The reward has been significantly improved sales and now a national award issued by experts in their field.

"I would like to thank MPC, our programme partners O Publishing, and everyone who contributes to making 'Wednesday' the success that it is."
