Second String Sting Pools
The Owls' second string claimed a last-gasp 2-1 win over Hartlepool at the Look Local Stadium in Stocksbridge on Wednesday.
Second half goals from substitute striker Charlie Tunnard (62) and defender Liam McMenamin (89) sealed all three points, with Pools finding the target through Michael Mackay (84).
Rob Burch proved the key player, though, for Wednesday. The keeper produced a sharp first half save from Tom Haigh with the score at 0-0 before spectacularly keeping out a late Mackay penalty.
Delighted coach Sean McAuley said: "The penalty save was just outstanding. It was a very well struck shot but Rob was right on it and not only did he save it but made sure there was no chance of a rebound either. He also made that crucial save in the first half.
"Overall, I thought the team stuck well at the task and deserved the late winner. It was a very competitive contest with some good performances. Luke Boden had another excellent game and so too did Sean McAllister before he came off. I was really happy as well with the younger lads."
The reserves' next outing is in seven days time at the Look Local Stadium against local rivals Rotherham, kick off 2:00pm.
Wednesday: Burch, McMenamin, Gilbert, Harrison, Liversidge, Richard Wood, McClements (Leon Lekaj 87), McAllister (Kay 67), Clarke (Tunnard 46), Boden, Rocky Lekaj
