Burch Takes The Plaudits
Sean McAuley has praised Rob Burch for an outstanding goalkeeping display during the reserves' 2-2 draw with Leeds on Tuesday.
And Burch also took the plaudits from the visiting camp as Wednesday battled their way to a hard-fought point at Stocksbridge.
McAuley told Wednesday World: "The result flattered us a little but credit to our lads, they dug in and fought for the result.
"There's no doubting that Leeds dominated parts of the game but that did allow Rob Burch the chance to show what he can do and he was fantastic. The team came under some real pressure and he came up trumps.
"That's because he trains well and has a really good attitude to go with his ability. It's good for the club that if anything did happen to one of the keepers, the other one can step in and do a job."
Former Tottenham trainee Burch also caught the eye of Leeds second string boss Neil Thompson, who could only watch in frustration for much of the contest as the Owls custodian thwarted the Whites time and again.
Thompson said: "It was a really entertaining game to watch and we created plenty of chances but the Wednesday keeper made some incredible saves."
