Laws fears Sodje news

Posted on: Mon 11 Aug 2008

Brian Laws says he is not looking forward to hearing the verdict on Akpo Sodje's knee injury.

Sodje left the field on Saturday 22 minutes into the Burnley contest having already started his season with two goals.

The striker underwent a scan on Sunday that revealed tendon damage behind the knee. Sodje will now see a specialist to discover the full extent of the injury.

Laws exclusively told swfc.co.uk: "The scan confirmed that Akpo has damaged a tendon behind his knee. We're now going to send him to the specialist, who has all the knowledge and know-how and he will tell us which direction we go in.

"One of the most important things is to discover how long he's going to be out for. We saw on Saturday what kind of difference Sodje makes to the team.

"Any length of time will be detrimental to the team so we need to find out as quickly as possible so we can adjust.

"I'm not looking forward to finding out the news because I don't believe it will be good news no matter which surgeon he goes to see."

Sodje will see a specialist on Tuesday and is set to be sidelined for a minimum of one month.
