The Middlesbrough defender has made an excellent impression with Wednesday during the two games he has played so far, against Preston and Swansea in and out of base.
His loan move is due to expire after the Owls' home game against Ipswich later this month but the agreement has the option to be extended.
McMahon exclusively told Wednesday World: "I said to the gaffer, all I want to do is play football, week in, week out. Do I want to go back to Middlesbrough and sit on the bench? No, not really. I'd much rather play football and get as fit as I can."
The north-easterner has slotted comfortably into the Hillsborough set-up, on and off the pitch.
And McMahon attributes the seamless transition to an easy-going nature that has been welcomed in the Wednesday camp.
He said: "I'm a lad that mixes really easily and it's even better now that I have a couple of games under the belt.
"They've been different games as well, we got the same treatment from Swansea that we gave Preston.
"The quality of football is very good in a very unpredictable division.
"But I've said to the lads, there's no reason why we can't challenge towards the top of the Championship."
