McMahon recalled by Middlesbrough
On-loan defender, Tony McMahon, has been recalled by Middlesbrough as per the conditions of his deal with Sheffield Wednesday.
McMahon's emergency loan was subject to a 24-hour recall by his parent club but the right back is able to return to Hillsborough next month if he is not wanted by Boro manager, Gareth Southgate.
Emergency loans are made between clubs up to a maximum of 93 days and, with McMahon having served the Owls for 65 days up to Friday (October 24), the 22-year-old right back could return for a 28-day spell in November if Boro agree to release him for a second spell.
The Boro academy product is currently serving a three-match ban for his red card at Barnsley on Tuesday night, which would have ruled him out of the Owls weekend trip to Birmingham and subsequent matches against Plymouth and Crystal Palace.
Brian Laws said: "Tony has been excellent during his loan spell with Sheffield Wednesday and we are grateful for what he has done during his initial spell. If Boro do not need him in November then we will try to bring Tony back so that he can complete the 93-day loan period he is entitled to serve with us."
