Sheffield Wednesday have seen the appeal against Jimmy Smith's red card at Birmingham City on Saturday rejected by the Football Association.
The FA have also decided to increase the midfielder's suspension by one match on the grounds of a 'frivolous' appeal.
Smith will now serve a four-match suspension starting with tonight's match against Plymouth Argyle. The ban will also take in the forthcoming matches against Crystal Palace, Doncaster Rovers and Derby County.
