Francis Jeffers says he is pleased with his current pedigree - but insists there is plenty more to come as the season unfolds.

The Owls striker has stored six recent starts for Wednesday as he continues on the comeback trail following his horror injury at Stoke early last term.

Jeffers has impressed in terms of creation and build-up play but still awaits his maiden goal of the 2008/09 campaign.

The Liverpudlian would naturally welcome the net bulging against Bristol City on Saturday but is not overly concerned so long as his promising team play continues.

He exclusively told Wednesday World: "I haven't scored yet and I'm keeping focussed on the things that have kept me in the side, like work rate and link-up play, because I know the goals will come.

"The one little thing that might worry me is the lack of clear-cut chances, I haven't had one since I've started games back in the team. Getting chances and missing them is one thing but I haven't had the chances yet.

"But I'm sure they'll come and in the meantime I'll keep on doing what I've been doing, working hard and putting in a shift for the team."

Naturally, the more time Jeffers stores on the park, the higher his chances of scoring will be. And right now, although not yet at the peak of his powers, the 27-year-old is feeling in good nick having successfully overcome the ankle injury that destroyed his season last time out.

He said: "I'm fit, which is a big plus for me. I'm not 100 per cent in terms of sharpness and match fitness but in my body I'm fit. I'm getting regular games and that's good for me.

"If you've been playing games and miss four or five weeks it's easier for the body to adjust when you come back but after going almost a year without really playing, it takes longer.

"We saw that with Frank Simek, who had a year out as well. He came back for the Southampton game, did well, but then suffered with his hamstring against QPR. That's what happens. But with every day and every game, I'm getting fitter and stronger."
