Sheffield Wednesday will unveil a giant new flag in partnership with fans group Wednesdayite just prior to kick-off this evening.
As a demonstration of the new cooperative atmosphere being developed at the club, Sheffield Wednesday and its largest fans group, Wednesdayite, have joined together to provide a new big flag for the club's supporters.
The flag is making its debut by being paraded on the pitch at today's home game against Birmingham City (5.20pm kick-off) and it will then be 'surfed' across the North Stand in the build-up to the Barnsley match on Tuesday evening.
The flag will then be used at all the remaining home matches and permission will be sought to deploy it at away games too.
Fans who submitted ideas for the design of the flag, and others who have been involved in raising funds, will be carrying out the flag in front of the North Stand for its debut.
Wednesdayite chairman John Gath said: "We are really pleased with this first example of how positive things can be made to happen when we all work together. We are grateful to Lee Strafford and the staff at the club for the way they have supported this project. This is just the start."
Wednesdayite have been raising their share of the cost by selling specially commissioned flag pin badges. These are still on sale so fans who wish to support this part of the new era at the club can purchase a badge. Details can be found on the web site at www.wednesdayite.com
