Owls winger, Etienne Esajas, bagged his first goal of the season against Rochdale on Tuesday, helping Wednesday book their place into round two of the Carling Cup.
The Dutchman scored what he tagged one of the best goals of his career, hitting home a sweet volley from distance and was pleased with his side's performance against the League Two outfit.
He told Wednesday Player: "It was good for us, we are through to the next round which is the main thing but I had a good game as well.
"The goal was one of my best ever, I couldn't have hit it any better than I did and I'm really happy with it. I saw the ball come down and I thought I'm just going to try it."
With an impressive cup outing under the belt, Esajas now hopes to have staked his claim for a starting place when Wednesday visit Peterborough in the Championship on Saturday.
"I always want to be in the team, I did well against Rochdale but there is a lot of competition for places," he said. "Everyone is performing well in training and when you're on the pitch you have to show what you can do.
"Last year we didn't make it through but this year we are through to the next round and the team did really well.
"Normally in those types of games they will give everything and they make it hard for us but we gave a little bit more and we showed our quality."
