Under 18s go down at Derby

Posted on: Wed 07 Oct 2009

The Owls under 18s narrowly lost out to Derby County 2-1 on Saturday in difficult playing conditions in East Midlands.

Wednesday's only goal, on the windy afternoon, came from the penalty spot with Patrick Lacey finishing confidently from 12 yards.

Academy manager Sean McAuley said: "The game was spoilt by the weather and it was almost unplayable. But saying that, we didn't deserve to win.

"A positive for us was Nathan Modest - his performance was excellent. He was able to retain possession in tough conditions and I was pleased with him."
