Wilcox rues international break
Assistant manager, Russ Wilcox, says the Owls would have relished the opportunity to be in Championship action this evening.
Wednesday were comfortably beaten by Derby County on Saturday but now face a two-week break before resuming their season against Coventry City at Hillsborough.
Wilcox told Wednesday Player: "We would have loved a game tonight because you want to put the bad results behind you as soon as you can.
"We want to put a line under Saturday and move on. We had a debrief with the players yesterday, it was a good meeting as well.
"We got a few home truths out and then put it to bed. We need to move on and look forward to the two home games against Coventry and Preston."
Wilcox will welcome a return to home soil, where Wednesday have suffered just the one defeat this season. He asserts that positive returns from the next two games could see the Owls propelled into the play-off equation.
He reasoned: "We understand it's doom and gloom at the moment because of Derby but back to back wins would get us right back up there and that is the target.
"We need to get back to our early season form, the way we were passing and the way we moved, we have played some very good football this season."
