Owls aim for Hillsborough double

Posted on: Wed 21 Oct 2009

After Saturday's 2-0 win over Coventry City, Mark Beevers believes Wednesday can build on that winning performance and post back-to-back victories by beating Preston North End on Tuesday.

Beevers, who made his sixth appearance of the season against the Sky Blues, was quick to hail the team's display and delighted on a personal note to have come back into the side and help the Owls to their third clean sheet.

He told Wednesday Player: "It was a massive result for us against Coventry. I think it was important that we came away from that game with three points. "We needed a good performance and a win and I thought we got both."

Beevers is now looking to take the confidence from the Coventry clash into tomorrow's game against Alan Irvine's Preston at Hillsborough.

Three points separate the Owls from North End in the table after the weekend's results and whilst Wednesday are buoyant after Saturday's win, it's much the reverse for Preston, who are looking to bounce back from a 4-0 thrashing at Loftus Road against QPR.

Beevers added: "Our confidence will obviously be high for the Preston match. The lads worked hard against Coventry and I think we deserved to come out on top.

"As a back five, I think we were solid as a unit but the same went for all over the pitch. The guys in midfield and up front looked good all throughout the match, now we need to show more of the same against Preston."
