Miller rues missed chances

Posted on: Sun 08 Nov 2009

Midfielder Tommy Miller was left disappointed after Saturday's home defeat to QPR given the chances that Wednesday created.

After a slow start by the Owls and going one goal down after ten minutes, Jermaine Johnson's fifth of the season levelled the score.

Both Luke Varney and Miller hit the post at 1-1 and the latter believes on another day, those chances could have found their way into the back of the net.

He said: "It was very disappointing but also a decent game. There were chances at either end and I thought in the second half we forced the issue. To concede a goal from a corner is very disappointing.

"They started the game very well and got their goal. But after that we got into our stride, JJ got a great goal, Varney has hit the post so we had our chances.

"We are creating, it's just not going in the back of the net and it's disappointing because we shouldn't be getting beaten at home.

"But QPR are one of the better teams in the division and will be up there come the end of the season, possibly even in the top two."

On a personal note, Tommy is pleased to be putting together a run of games for Wednesday and will be looking to keep his starting shirt for the trip to his former club, Ipswich Town, in two weeks.

He went on: "I enjoyed the game on Saturday, nearly scored but hit the post and on another day it goes in but I enjoyed the run out. I was getting forward, getting shots in and enjoyed that but at the same time we got beat and come away disappointed.

"There is a break now so we have lick our wounds and get back out on the training ground."
