Mixed feelings for Grant

Posted on: Wed 11 Nov 2009

Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper, Lee Grant, is in bittersweet mood regarding the latest international break.

The Owls went into the break on the back of a disappointing defeat against QPR last Saturday and Grant says that while it might have been beneficial to get straight back into action, the timeout will give Wednesday the chance to regroup.

He told Wednesday Player: "Do I welcome the break? Yes and no really. It would have been nice to get Saturday's result out of the system early on and go straight into a game on the Tuesday.

"But that's not the case and it does give us time to reflect and regroup. We will reassess things because it's been a difficult last couple of games at home and it's a case of getting things back on track."

Grant also emphasised the need for greater efficiency at both ends of the field. The Owls have more than matched the likes of QPR and Preston at Hillsborough of late but still emerged from both games pointless.

The keeper added: "You have to take your chances against these sides, chances can be few and far between, so when they do come, you have to take them.

"The same applies at the other end, you have to be tight and limit the opposition to as few opportunities as possible. We're not quite managing to do that for the full 90 minutes so it's a case of putting that right. My primary goal is to keep clean sheets and that is not happening at the minute."
