Owls boss on passion and positivity
Sheffield Wednesday manager, Brian Laws, reflected on the passion and positivity surrounding Sheffield Wednesday at the club's Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.
The AGM, held at the St Paul's Mercure Hotel in Sheffield city centre was attended by around 250 shareholders and saw presentations made by chairman, Lee Strafford, chief executive, Nick Parker, and Laws himself.

"It was quite evident that there is a lot of passion amongst our supporters," Laws said after the meeting. "There was certainly feeling in the room that everyone wants the club to do so well. Everyone seemed very positive about the changes that have been made off the field, bringing the club back to the supporters.
"The presentation of the AGM was excellent and I answered some questions that are normal in the circumstances because the table doesn't lie. The performances have been very good but they haven't got the results we have deserved recently and that understandably puts pressure on. The supporters want to know why and how we are going to stem that flow. We know what we are doing certain things right so we have to continue doing that and add to it, keeping tight at the back. The defence is showing that they are getting stronger and that should give us a platform that we haven't had in previous games.
"We can't play games needing to score three or four goals to win. At the moment we need the win however we get it and at this moment in time results are probably more important than performances. We've got a good crop of games coming up now with four out of six games at home so we need to start showing some consistency."
Laws' AGM presentation detailed statistics showing improved attacking play as well as improvements to medical back-up and sports science at Sheffield Wednesday over the calendar year. The manager also fielded questions on his skipper Darren Purse.
"Darren has been heavily criticised because he has made a few very costly errors and he knows that. He has got broad shoulders and he hasn't changed as a player; he's still a good player, well respected in football. He's an established Championship player and he's got all of the credentials you want as a centre half; he's experienced with great knowledge, he's a good organiser with his communication - you name it, he's got it.
"He did very well in August but he has made a few errors since which have accumulated and put pressure on him, with him coming in for some criticism. However, I have great belief in the guy and I am sure he will bounce back."
Sheffield Wednesday will be holding a fans forum at Hillsborough tonight to reflect on the AGM and you can see a live webcast of this event on our new online community website OurWednesday.com - the fans forum starts at 7pm and you can watch it if you click here.
