Sheffield Wednesday posted a 0-0 draw with Derby County in the totesport.com Central League on Tuesday afternoon.

The game was played at the Look Local Stadium in blustery conditions but both sides nonetheless gave good accounts of themselves in Stocksbridge.

A strong home side saw the likes of Darren Purse, Beevers, Sean McAllister, Etienne Esajas and Francis Jeffers each get a valuable 90 minutes under the belt.

Jeffers and Nathan Modest had half-chances for the Owls, who almost nicked the points in the closing stages but Beevers saw his effort cleared off the line.

Still there was time for Derby to strike a post and for Richard O'Donnell to make a top-drawer save at the death.

Owls coach John Dungworth said: "The conditions were difficult but I thought both sides can be pleased with the way they played.

"There were chances at both ends and Richard O'Donnell made an excellent late save for us. The first team players got full games and that was another positive to take from the game."

Owls: O'Donnell, Barnett, Wragg, Boden, Purse, Beevers, Palmer, McAllister, Jeffers, Modest (Oliver 75), Esajas
