Hard work the answer

Posted on: Sun 29 Nov 2009

James O'Connor says that a hard week on the training ground will help put right the wrongs that Wednesday suffered at the hands of West Brom on Saturday.

The promotion-chasing Baggies proved a cut above at Hillsborough as the Owl slumped to their heaviest defeat of the season.

And midfield man O'Connor anticipates a tough week at Middlewood Road before Wednesday look to bounce back against Reading next weekend.

He told Wednesday Player: "It's no good feeling sorry for ourselves, we have to keep believing in ourselves and stick together. We will work hard in training and try to put things right.

"On the day, they played well and we were poor. West Brom have just come down from the Premiership, they are a very strong team and we saw that first hand."

Wednesday have slipped to 19th place in the table but O'Connor insists there is no cause for panic given the current stage of proceedings.

He added: "We are still in November, there is a long way to go yet. But, of course, we have to start proving we are a better side than we are at the moment.

"We will work hard in training and look to come out all guns blazing next Saturday against Reading."
