We're all in this together

Posted on: Sun 06 Dec 2009

Loan striker Warren Feeney says the Sheffield Wednesday squad will not buckle under the current weight of pressure.

The Owls' home defeat to Reading on Saturday triggered a slide to 20th in the Championship table but Feeney insists the team will come out fighting when they travel to local rivals Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday.

Moreover, the Irishman welcomes the prospect of a derby clash as the trip to the Keepmoat is sure to prove a hard-fought encounter.

He told Wednesday Player: "We're all in this together and we will not be hiding. Things are not running for us but I'm a big believer in making your own luck.

"The lads would play tomorrow if they could because we are all desperate to turn things around. Maybe it's a good thing that we have a local derby and so soon. We just want to get back out there and try to put things right."

Feeney tasted his first slice of the action at Hillsborough since signing from Cardiff on loan late last month. The striker entered the fray in the second half against the Royals and now wants to increase his time on the pitch.

He added: "It was good to get out there but obviously disappointing the way things went. I came here to play football and that's what I want to do but that's in the hands of the gaffer.

"The important thing from the team perspective is to break this run and get some points on the board and hopefully that will start against Doncaster on Tuesday."
