Who gets your vote for January?

Posted on: Thu 04 Feb 2010

January has been a massive month for Wednesday in the Championship and it's time for you to vote for your Handley Brown Player of the Month.

The Owls went into January four points adrift in the bottom three but have emerged from the month five points clear of the danger zone with four wins from five matches.

New Wednesday manager Alan Irvine hit the ground running in charge with a fine 2-1 win against Barnsley but which of the players have caught your eye?

Wednesday are now top of the form table and after that solid first month of 2010, it is up to you to vote for your Player of the Month.

There are plenty of candidates for you to choose from. Luke Varney was unstoppable at the weekend as he twice found the net against Plymouth Argyle so maybe he deserves your vote this month.

Jamaican international Jermaine Johnson carried on his good scoring form this season and fired in what proved to be the winner against Barnsley at Oakwell. Although injury brought about an early end to the winger's month - perhaps that Oakwell strike is worth a vote itself?

The Owls too have looked a more difficult unit to break down at the back. Lewis Buxton put in a strong performance against Barnsley and Blackpool. Darren Purse and Mark Beevers have formed a good partnership the back, as has Tommy Spurr who also bagged that early goal against Barnsley.

Make your vote count by clicking the banner below. Votes for the January Player of the Month will close on Thursday 12pm.
