Sheffield Wednesday will honour Corporal Liam Riley, who lost his life in Afghanistan last week, at the Owls home match against Blackpool on Tuesday evening.
The 21-year-old soldier was killed by a roadside bomb in Helmand Province whilst trying to save the life of Lance Corporal Graham Shaw, 27, who was fatally wounded by a similar device just moments earlier.
A very dedicated lifelong Wednesdayite, Liam, will be honoured with a minute's applause prior to kick-off and flags at the stadium will fly at half mast. The Owls players will also wear black armbands as a mark of respect for the Yorkshire Regiment soldier.
Sheffield Wednesday chairman, Lee Strafford, said: "Liam was a big Owls fan, along with most of his family, and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.
"We have been in contact with Liam's relatives and we feel it is right to honour this outstanding and brave young man at the home of the football club he supported throughout his life. Liam was a shining light in the Wednesday family and someone we can all be proud to be associated with."
