Sheffield Wednesday captain Darren Purse has urged the Owls to stay flat out between now and the end of the season.
The team has won five from seven under Alan Irvine and Purse says the work ethic shown in those games must stay evident for the remainder of the campaign.
Purse said: "It's so tight down there, as we saw last week. If we hadn't beaten Blackpool, we'd have been back in the bottom three. Plymouth and Peterborough have slipped away a little bit and if that stays the case, there's one more place to filled and we have to make sure it's not filled by us.
"We know what we have to do, and that's at least six wins from the 16 games we have left of the season. That should be enough to keep us in the division but we will be taking nothing for granted.
"All the lads are putting in the hard work required and hopefully that will all come to fruition and help us out of the relegation dogfight that we are in."
Despite that quintet of wins, Wednesday are just two points from the drop zone but Purse says that the more teams dragged into the mix, the more beneficial it will be for the Owls.
He added: "We have won five out of seven and while we are only two points clear of the relegation zone, those wins have pulled other clubs into the mix.
"The likes of Doncaster, QPR and Bristol City are looking over their shoulder and the next thing for us to do is make some more ground on them whilst pulling further away from the two teams at the bottom. Even Derby, who have picked up some excellent wins in recent weeks, are far from safe, so it's very much up in the air."
