Reserves edge five-goal thriller

Posted on: Wed 17 Feb 2010

Sheffield Wednesday reserves came out on top against their Walsall counterparts winning 3-2 in an entertaining contest.

The Owls had to come from behind twice to seal victory over the League One outfit as goals from Nick Wood, Luke Boden and Liam Palmer were enough to seal three points in the totesport.com league, Central Division match.

Coach Sean McAuley said: "I was very pleased with the performance and attitude of our players. The game was entertaining and credit as well must go to Walsall.

"It was a fiercely contested match and both teams were keen to win. We had a very young team out there and they gave a good account of themselves."

Nathan Modest, who has been nominated as a candidate for this seasons Young Apprentice of the Year, particularly impressed McAuley.

He said of the confident youngster: "Once again, Nathan Modest was outstanding and I was really pleased with his performance and the way he continues to develop."
