Owls defender Frank Simek is expecting a tough time against Reading on Saturday given their current form but is hopeful of coming back from the Madejski Stadium with three points.

The Wednesday full back insists that confidence and belief within the squad is high and is aiming to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

He told Wednesday Player: "It's a big game, obviously Reading are down there with us at the bottom of the league and we have to make sure we go there and get a result.

"They had a good win earlier in the week against West Brom in the cup but we have to go there and make sure we stamp our authority on the game. It's not going to be easy but we have to make it hard for them as well."

On a personal note, Simek admitted to Wednesday Player his delight at being back in the first team but his focus now is solely on helping the Owls climb the table and keep away from the Championship trapdoor.

He went on: "It's good to be back in the team, obviously the last few games haven't gone well but I'm hoping to keep helping the team and pick up points because we need them, especially at this stage of the season.

"The spirit and confidence is there and if we get the result we want on Saturday things will look more positive. Come Saturday we have got to start pushing up the league."
