Owls upbeat ahead of Swans clash

Posted on: Fri 12 Mar 2010

Owls defender Mark Beevers feels boosted by Wednesday's midweek performance against West Brom and is looking for a similar display against Swansea and three points.

Beevers is aware of the Swans' strengths and, although they don't score a lot of goals, he expects a difficult test against another promotion-chasing side.

He told Wednesday Player: "Swansea will be similar to West Brom - they are a passing team and if we can put in a similar performance as we did at the Hawthorns then we should be okay.

"We know that if they get a goal, they like to keep the ball and pass it around so we need to stop them taking the lead and look to threaten them when we break forward."

Looking back at the narrow 1-0 defeat against the high-flying Albion, Beevers believes the performance was encouraging and if the Owls can maintain those standards until the end of the season - Wednesday will remain in the Championship.

He went on: "We put a really good performance in on Tuesday night and the gaffer said we had a really good team shape.

"Defensively we looked comfortable, we felt comfortable and when we had chance to break, I thought we did so well. If we had taken those chances we could have nicked three points.

"If we take our chances, there's no reason why we can't take three points from Swansea which is exactly what we need."
