Esajas on target for Owls reserves

Posted on: Thu 18 Mar 2010

Nathan Modest and Etienne Esajas were on target for the reserves either side of the break as the Owls beat Port Vale 2-0 at the Look Local Stadium, Stocksbridge, on Wednesday.

Modest opened the scoring with a looping finish on 34 minutes before Esajas jinked past two defenders on the hour and drilled a fierce left-footed strike into the back of Chris Martin's net.

The goalscoring duo proved thorns in the side of Vale throughout the game, with Esajas in particular in excellent form.

Vale man Matty Bell struck the woodwork in the second half but the Owls kept the visitors at bay to post a welcome win.

Owls: O'Donnell, Wragg, Wilde, Hall, Nyoni, Barnett (Kirkland 83), Esajas, Harrison, Oliver (Eckhardt 61), Modest, Boden.

Unused substitutes: Haywood, Jameson, Meehan.
