Sheffield Wednesday is looking forward to hosting the England 2018 World Cup Bid 'Fly The Flag' Tour on Easter Monday as the club welcomes another potential host in Bristol for this match.
Having been unveiled at England's friendly match against Egypt at Wembley recently, the huge flag is currently touring the candidate host cities under the 'England United, the World Invited' banner.
Fans will be able to see the flag at Hillsborough today and English football's passionate followers can provide vital support to the England 2018 World Cup Bid by demonstrating how much a World Cup in England would mean to them.
Fans from across the globe have joined some of the biggest names in English sport and entertainment in backing England 2018, including Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham, Germany captain Michael Ballack, Ghana midfielder Michael Essien, World Cup winner Ossie Ardiles, Formula One champs Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button, England's Ashes winners, Hollywood star and comedian Eddie Izzard, comic actor James Corden and legendary musician Noel Gallagher.
Owls captain, Darren Purse, said: "We are delighted to host England's Fly The Flag Tour, Hillsborough is a fantastic venue for football and we are all hopeful that our stadium can be part of the World Cup in 2018. I would urge all Sheffield Wednesday fans to show their support for the 2018 bid in any way we can so we can show that this is the best place on earth to host the World Cup."
Bristol City captain, Louis Carey, commented: "Bringing the World Cup to England would give a massive boost to the sport in this country and would inspire children for generations. On a personal note it would be great to see Bristol hosting World Cup football too, a real honour for the city and something that would live on in the memory forever."
England 2018 Chief Executive, Andy Anson, added: "The England 2018 'Fly The Flag' Tour is a great way for the candidate host cities to showcase their role in England's Bid and to engage with fans across the country. The fans are integral to our bid and their support is vital to demonstrate the passion that we have for football in this country."
