Lee Grant insists the Owls are firmly focused on getting a result this weekend which will keep Championship survival in Sheffield Wednesday's hands.
The Wednesday custodian has been disappointed by fortuitous goals for the opposition in recent games but is not letting anything detract from the preparations for the trip to Cardiff City this weekend.
The Owls have to equal Crystal Palace's result in the penultimate round of matches to ensure destiny remains in their own hands and Grant is sure that Alan Irvine's team has the mental strength and experience needed to secure what is needed to get out of the drop zone in the nick of time.
Reflecting on some of the goals conceded recently, the Owls number one said: "The footballing gods seem to be against us a bit at the moment. The goal at the weekend was a cross and I think the lad himself said as much but that's just the way things are going for us at the minute.
"I didn't have a lot of saves to make on Sunday, and probably only one of note in the second half. It wasn't a game full of opportunities but the best chances probably fell to our players and unfortunately we didn't put them away," Grant told
Wednesday Player"It really is a case of putting any disappointment to one side and concentrating on what we need to do. We are not going to rely on luck or any favours. We are trying to keep things in our own hands by concentrating on our own performances and getting three points.
"It's obvious the lads are committed and focused on getting results. It will take a full team effort and a squad effort and everybody is going to have to give everything they have got to do it."
Grant noted the considerable role played by Wednesday supporters from the stands and says the continued backing from Owls fans can help the team over the line come May 2.
"It was unbelievable at the derby and it is great to see everybody turning out and getting fully behind the lads and the staff," Grant enthused. "Hopefully a full house on the last day of the season will see us push on and get the result we want.
And the Wednesday keeper believes the experience and character within the Owls camp will see the team through:
"We have had players who have been in this position before and we haven't got too many players who have been relegated so hopefully that will be the same again come the end of the season. I was part of the team that stayed up on the last game of the season two years ago so I hope to recreate that and I think everyone here is the same here. We are 100 per cent committed to getting the right results in those last two games," Grant concluded.
