Billy's Blog - part 2

Posted on: Thu 08 Jul 2010

Owls' first team coach Billy Barr posts his second blog from Austria ahead of what he says will be the toughest day of training so far...

The lads enjoyed a well-earned day off yesterday having worked very hard since the 1 July. Looking at it, it was very much needed on the back of nine training sessions in three days.

Today will be the hardest day of the week so again that day off was much needed for the lads to recuperate and rest aching muscles.

There was plenty for the lads to do to keep them occupied, many went up into the mountains on the cable cars and visited the ice caves and salt mines. Others made use of the tennis courts, gym and bikes on site.

Since the last blog we've experienced all sorts of different weather culminating in a full day of dry weather on the day off.

Monday afternoon's training session started in brilliant sunshine at 80 degrees and finished with near hurricane and monsoon conditions- needless to say there weren't many hanging around on the training pitch afterwards!

Frightening how quick the weather changed and was visible for all to see before it arrived where we were training. The locals are saying that we've had a full year's worth of rain in 4 days, resulting in the bridge that we normally cross during cool downs being closed due to the raging river.

The atmosphere on the training pitch and the professionalism shown so far here has been first class and people are coming back determined to put right what happened last season.
