Irvine hails successful week

Posted on: Sat 10 Jul 2010

The Owls rounded off a challenging week in Austria with a 0-0 draw against local side USK Anif.

The game, played in soaring conditions, gave Wednesday a good workout to round off a successful week in Austria.

Owls boss Alan Irvine made plenty of changes throughout the match including a total of nine changes at half time - with all seven of Wednesday's summer signings storing 45 minutes.

Irvine said: "Today was a good fitness exercise at the end of a tough week. It was played in soaring heat and the players had a large pitch to cover.

"We had to play around with different formations and every player had at least 45 minutes.

"They all worked hard and showed great determination despite the heat."

Owls (first half): O'Donnell, Jones, Beevers, Purse, Buxton, Potter, Boden, Sedgwick, Miller, Mellor, Heffernan

(second half): Jameson, Spurr, Beevers, Buxton, Otsemobor, Palmer, O'Connor, Teale, Coke, Tudgay, Johnson
