Coke crowned Player of the Month

Posted on: Thu 02 Sep 2010

Giles Coke has been crowned as the Handley Brown Player of the Month for August after enjoying an excellent start to the new term.

The midfielder, who joined the Owls in the summer, has been highly effective in the engine room and has attracted an astounding 2,575 votes.

From four league starts in August, Coke has been on target twice with strikes against Brighton & Hove Albion and a goal at Victoria Park in the 5-0 thrashing of Hartlepool.

Coke also struck in the Carling Cup against Bury at Hillsborough to make it three goals for the month and it could have been four but for his strike against Dagenham & Redbridge going down as an own goal.

The top three players picked out for August were:

Coke: 2,575 votes (80.8%)
Mellor: 194 votes (6.1%)
Purse: 146 votes (4.6%)

Thank you to all those who took time to vote for their Handley Brown Player of the Month for August.
