Owls suffer JJ blow

Posted on: Wed 22 Feb 2012

The Owls have suffered a blow with news that Jermaine Johnson will be absent for around eight weeks with a knee ligament injury.

JJ left the field at Chesterfield on Saturday having pulled up with the strain and manager Gary Megson has confirmed the prognosis.

He said: "He's expected to be out for eight weeks. JJ has been playing arguably the best football of his career, scoring goals, making them and looking a huge threat.

"We just have to tough it out."

Megson has drafted in winger Michail Antonio on loan from Championship side Reading and the 21-year-old could be thrust straight into action in Sunday's crunch Steel City derby against Sheffield United.

The Owls boss said: "Michail has pace, strength, an eye for goal and he works hard.

"Our fans will have seen him when we played Colchester, I was surprised when he was taken off in that game."
