Lewis joined Wednesday on loan from Premiership outfit Stoke in October 2008 before signing a permanent contract during the January transfer window that will see him at S6 until 2011.
The versatile defender can play across the backline and also on the left side of midfield if required.
Buxton kicked off his career with Portsmouth, debuting for the south coast side at just 17-years-old. He enjoyed loan spells at Exeter and Bournemouth before joining Stoke in December 2004.
The 27-year-old signed a new two-year deal with the Owls, keeping him at Hillsborough until summer 2013.
