The popular defender joined the Owls on a free transfer in July 2005 after leaving Premiership giants Arsenal. He made the right back slot his own after producing highly consistent performances for Wednesday before a serious ankle injury cut short his campaign at Christmas last time out.
Prior to that fitness blow, Simek was established as a tough and determined opponent for any opposing attacker with his sound defensive abilities backed up by powerful running and strong tackling. His impressive club form led to a call-up for the United States national team and his international debut followed against Guatemala in March 2007.
Frank turned professional with Arsenal after being on the Londoners' books from the age of 12, making his senior debut in late 2003. The Missouri product also had loan spells at both QPR and Bournemouth during his Gunners stint.
