After rising through the S6 ranks, Spurr made his senior breakthrough in April 2006 against Reading at Hillsborough and his since grown from strength to strength in the Owls rearguard.
The Leeds lad was recognised as a natural leader at youth level and is a tall, athletic player who is strong in the air, possesses a sweet left foot and also reads the game well. He chipped in with two goals in 2007/08, at Charlton in August and against Plymouth on home soil eight months later.
He made further progress in 2008/09, with his most memorable moment coming at Bramall Lane where he opened the scoring against Sheffield United after just 46 seconds - a goal which helped Wednesday on their way to the double over the Blades for the first time in 95 years.
