Sean signed professional terms with the Owls in the summer of 2006 after forcing his way into the first team whilst still an academy player. He earned his chance having become a mainstay of the Wednesday reserve side during his time in the SWFC youth system.
Having been involved with the first team squad in pre-season prior to the start of the 2005/06 term, the tenacious midfielder made his debut at Southampton in February 2006 before enjoying his first start at Derby County in April of the same year. Sean found his chances limited in the following campaign but did score his first career goal in a 2-1 win at Plymouth Argyle.
The 20-year-old made a major impression during the latter part of the 2007/08 season, turning in a string of excellent displays that prompted the offer of a new two-year deal.
