Kenny joined the Owls on a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra in May 2006, signing a three-year contract with SWFC. He was a regular in the Wednesday engine room during his first term at S6, making 40 outings as the club cemented a top-ten finish in the Championship.
During his time at Crewe, Lunt amassed 418 appearances and also captained the Railwaymen, weighing in with 37 goals from midfield.
The Runcorn product turned professional with the Cheshire outfit in 1997 and made his senior bow on the opening day of the 1997/98 term, aged just 17, before quickly establishing himself as a regular. Lunt returned to Gresty Road for the latter part of the 2007/08 season, adding a further 14 appearances to his Alex tally.
