Owls announce new South Stand sponsors
Sheffield Wednesday are delighted to announce that national training provider Lifeskills will become the new sponsor of the South Stand at Hillsborough. The deal will run for two years and kicks off at the start of the 2010/11 campaign.
Lifeskills is committed to delivering apprenticeships in Business & Administration to unemployed 16-18 year olds across the country. On top of their £100 weekly wage, candidates will gain all the skills and qualifications they need to learn a living and develop a career.
Established in 2002, the company has grown from strength to strength and through the partnership with Wednesday are about to open the doors to an education centre at Hillsborough, alongside a sister centre in the heart of Rotherham.
The affiliation aims to engage with young Wednesdayites, whilst at the same time offering local businesses the chance to benefit through work placements.
Managing director Spencer Fearn said: "As a lifelong Wednesday fan, I am delighted to be able to sponsor the South Stand at Hillsborough and develop an excellent working relationship with one of the biggest clubs in England."
Sheffield Wednesday corporate sales manager Ian Leech added: "To get the level of commitment that we have from Lifeskills in a tough economic climate is great news for the club. But more importantly, young people in the community will have the opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience through the programmes delivered by Spencer and his team."
To emphasise their hard work and dedication, and recognise the quality of course Lifeskills delivers, they recently received consecutive top 50 placings in The Sunday Times' list of Best Small Companies to Work For, Extraordinary Status in the Best Companies Award and three Outstanding Grades from Ofsted.
