I took a lot of pride from seeing over 20,000 fans at Hillsborough for our last game of the season on Saturday.
I have not been in the Sheffield Wednesday family for long but already I feel completely at home amongst the wonderful supporters we have here. I have fallen in love with Sheffield Wednesday very quickly and as I said when I took over the club last December, I will do everything in my power to take us back where we belong and that is to the Premiership.
I was parachuted in, if you like, to save us from administration and I was astonished by how little this club had to operate and exist. So to see the level of support we have here is truly amazing and that gives me so much positive energy to help drive Sheffield Wednesday forward.
We all have the same aims and our ambitions will take time to achieve, it will not happen overnight. This season has been really frustrating for me and if I'm honest I will say it has been the most frustrating time of all my years in football.
But we will get this right, on and off the pitch. We are making some key changes behind the scenes to give us a very strong infrastructure, with people working with me who understand the football business. That process gives us much better organisation and a stronger base on which to build and move forward.
On the field, as ever, I will give full support to our manager so we can recruit the right players over the summer. Gary has given me a list of players he would like to bring to Sheffield Wednesday and Paul Aldridge and I will work as hard as we possibly can to make those signings happen.
Of course, I understand that there is a big appetite amongst our supporters and from the media for the names of these players but it would be wrong of me and unfair to start naming names. Our supporters will be the first to know about our new signings when we make them and that is the way it should be.
What I can say for sure right now is that we will have a very competitive budget for next season and if our performances on the pitch reflect that budget, let me say we will be in extremely good shape. All I can do is give full support to our manager and his coaching staff and then it is up to them to make all the pieces in the puzzle fit together.
I guarantee to all our fans my full commitment because that is what you show to me. Everywhere I go in Sheffield, the people are so warm and friendly and I know exactly what Sheffield Wednesday means to you all. This club belongs to you and you belong to this club and together we will get to where we all want to be.
