Pre-season for the Owls began in earnest at Alfreton with a 0-0 stalemate on Saturday.
It was a steady workout in Derbyshire, with most of the squad getting valuable game time under the belt.
Wednesday fielded two different outfield teams in each half and had the better of both, and more primarily the first.
The Owls were in cruise control during the opening 45 and but for some fine goalkeeping from George Willis would have taken a commanding lead into the break.
A stunning save from Lee Gregory was the standout moment but Willis cut a convincing figure between the sticks, also denying Barry Bannan, Jay Glover and Sylla Sow.
The wholesale changes for the second period altered the pattern of play and Town crept into the contest - Adam Lunt thumped an inviting header just past the post, which was the hosts’ best chance of the game.
At the other end, George Byers twice went close, fizzing inches off target.
Michael Smith, Alex Hunt and Josh Windass had sights of goal but nothing clear cut and the friendly fixture petered out into a goalless draw.
First half: Dawson, Glover, Palmer, Iorfa, Galvin, Adeniran, Bannan, Dele-Bashiru, Johnson, Gregory, Sow
Second half: Dawson (Charles 77), Hunt (J), Brown, Aguas, Heneghan, Ihiekwe, Byers, Hunt (A), Windass, Paterson, Smith
