Under-18s post Hull point

16 October 2017

The Owls Under-18s bounced back from three successive defeats with a solid display at Hull City on Saturday.

Ben Wilkinson’s youngsters posted a point in East Yorkshire with Preslav Borukov on target after 18 minutes for Wednesday with his first goal of the campaign.

The hosts equalised 20 minutes from time but the game represented a much-improved performance from a Wednesday perspective after a tough period.

Due to fixture switches, the trip to Hull was the Owls’ sixth away game on the spin and it began well for the visitors.

Joe West’s corner was contested in the middle by defender Isaac Rice and Borukov was on hand to stab home from close range.

Despite a resolute defensive performance, Hull found a way through to notch the equaliser after the break.

The Owls were then forced to finish the game with ten men, when right back Josh Dawudo was unable to continue through injury but in the end, it was Wednesday who almost snatched the win.

Alex Hunt’s corner resulted in a goalmouth scramble, which Borukov eventually smashed against the crossbar from close range in a frustrating end to the game.

Owls: Walker, Dawodu, West, Brennan, Rice (Gavrilov 67), Waldock (Grant 85), Hunt, Shaw, Hughes (Hornsby 82), Reaney, Borukov
