U18s report: Owls 2-2 Watford

25 October 2020

The Owls Under-18s drew 2-2 with Watford on Saturday afternoon at Middlewood Road.

Wednesday fell behind in the 13th minute but responded superbly to turn the game around before the break.

After scoring last weekend away at Charlton, Alex Bonnington was on target again for Wednesday on 20 minutes – this time from the penalty spot.

Luke Hall won the spot kick after running through in the box and taking a tumble after a late challenge from the Hornets’ goalkeeper, and Bonnington struck low and hard from 12 yards to level.

Then five minutes later, the Owls hit the front through Leojo Davidson.

A smart counter from the hosts led by Charlie Curtis brought the Owls upfield and once Davidson had the ball just outside the box, his low strike through bodies deceived the keeper and nestled into the bottom corner.

But the search for our youth team’s first win of the campaign goes on after Watford levelled 20 minutes from time, with a tap in from close range to frustrate the Owls youngsters.

Wednesday head to QPR next Saturday.

Owls: Hare, Curtis, Yates, Glover, Glaves, Ahsfa, Davidson (Ashman 55), Trueman, Bonnington (Cadamarteri 76), Hall, Aguas
