Under-18s set to resume FA Youth Cup campaign

Our Under-18s are back on the road in FA Youth Cup action this evening.

The Wednesday youngsters face Aylestone Park FC tonight in the second round of the competition.

Kick off at Saffron Lane (LE2 6TG) is at 7.45pm and supporters are welcome to attend with admission priced £5 adults and £3 concessions.

A comfortable 3-0 win away at Burton saw the Owls academy progress to the next stage.

Aylestone Park booked their spot in the second round with a home victory over Lincoln City. The game finished 4-4 and was decided by spot kicks.

Our opponents this evening have also had wins over Notts County (2-3) and Bedworth United (0-3) in the second and third qualifying rounds, respectively.

The squad continued their preparations for the cup-tie on Tuesday morning at Middlewood Road sporting odd socks to mark and raise awareness of Anti Bullying Week!

This week (15 – 19 November) is Anti Bullying Week, which aims to raise awareness of the damage bullying can do, particularly to young school children.

This year’s week has the theme “One Kind Word” and runs from Monday 15 November to Friday 19 November.

U18 gallery: Owls advance to round three of the FA Youth Cup!

The Owls Under-18s have booked their place in round three of the FA Youth Cup after defeating Aylestone Park FC 2-1 on the road this evening.

Incredibly, an attendance of 1,250 was there to witness the historic night at Saffron Lane – a new club record for the United Counties League Division One side.

Goals from Sean Fusire and Bailey Cadamarteri were enough to fire Wednesday into round three.

Andy Holdsworth’s side will be back on the road next time out in the Youth Cup having drawn Southampton in the third round.
