U18 report: Owls 3-1 Bristol City

14 September 2021

The Owls Under-18s notched their third win of the campaign on Monday afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Bristol City.

In form Owls youngsters Bailey Cadamarteri and Leojo Davidson were on target once again with the former hitting a double to help down the Robins.

The fixture took place at the renowned St George’s Park in Burton, where the Owls have spent part of this week in training.

All the goals came in a lively first half with Wednesday opening the scoring after eight minutes.

The build-up play was swift and decisive, led out from the back by Josh Chapman before Davidson powered forward to play through for Cadamarteri, who neatly slotted past James Walker in the City goal.

Things got better for the young Owls side and just seven minutes later their lead was doubled.

Jack Hall’s long punt upfield found Murtadha Al-Jahadhmy and after beating his man, the winger cut back for Cadamarteri, who improvised on the deck to steer the ball home after a scramble six yards out.

City halved the deficit in the 29th minute as Robins striker Seb Palmer-Houlden sent a looping header over Hall into the far corner.

But Wednesday’s response was swift and the two-goal lead was restored three minutes later.

The Owls' intensity and pressing high up the pitch through Filimon Asfha paid dividends as the Owls won possession to break upfield, Davidson then picked up the ball, drove forward and fired into the bottom corner from long range.

There is now a gap in the fixture schedule for our 18s with the next game on Saturday 2 October away v Crewe.

Owls: Hall, Fusire, Sesay, Asfha, Chapman, Flannery, Yogane (Maltby 74), Shipston (Ashman 90), Cadamarteri, Davidson, Al-Jahadhmy (Sterling-Rhule 82)
