The Owls Under-23s rounded off their pre-season with a 2-0 win over Northern Premier League side Scarborough Athletic on Saturday.
Wednesday began brightly at The Flamingo Land Stadium as efforts from Fraser Preston and George Hirst went narrowly wide of the target early in the contest.
The breakthrough came four minutes before the interval when Matt Penney struck a delightful free kick over the wall and into the top corner.
The game was put to bed ten minutes from time when Warren Clarke burst into the box and went down under a mistimed challenge.
Hirst stepped up to calmly convert sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.
The Under-23s begin their league campaign away at Cardiff City on Monday 14 August.
