The Owls Under-23s rescued a point against Wigan at Middlewood Road thanks to a second half goal from substitute Sean Fusire.
Thelo Aascaard opened the scoring for the Latics before the break, giving the visitors a deserved lead.
But Wednesday rallied in the second 45 and got their reward with Fusire on target.
After a bright start, Wigan hit the front on 18 minutes. Kieran Lloyd crossed from the right flank and Aascaard was first to the front post and volleyed home.
Will Trueman fired narrowly over as Wednesday sought a response but the Latics went straight back upfield where Baba Adeeko executed a curling drive that Jack Hall did well to tip wide.
The Owls keeper then denied the busy Aascaard from the edge of the box, and Wigan shot-stopper Sam Tickle was called into action to thwart Trueman.
In the next phase of play on 75 minutes, Wednesday drew level. Bailey Cadamarteri and Jay Glover linked up well on the left, with the latter’s cross cleared only to the right foot of Fusire, who drilled into the bottom corner.
